Villa Selong Selo 2

This was my first trip to Lombok. Selong has just under 30 private hideaways to rent, I was in 2E, prime location as just next door to the restaurant and gym. It was hard to not fall in love with its knock out views, nothing but endless views of the ocean. Being a hopeless sun worshipper, I loved the south facing sun drenched minimalist villa, both bedrooms were small but immaculate, my fav space was being stretched out by the plunge pool, as it was a bit far to hit Belanek beach (currently 15 minutes by car, but a more direct road is being built). This is not a holiday for those that need to have lots of shops etc as you are off the grid, far flung in the South (most hotels ie Oberoi are two hours to the North) yet only 30 min from the airport. Selong is pretty idyllic, perfect for a few reclusive laid back days, the ( mostly local ) staff were the most welcoming people, as the wifi was not strong (I could not even download a magazine), the best thing to do is just chill with a good book & some wine, and just watch the unfolding panorama. (the front desk staff can organize excursions but I had such a short stay it seemed sensible to stay put). Was a bit apprehensive about service after reading previous TA reviews so I appreciated the phone in the room that allows you to whatsapp your butler or the front desk, on top of that, Stuart and Grace were running the show, super helpful and receptive to feedback. In terms of insects that were mentioned in previous reviews, I did have one fly that annoying managed to slip in & hang out in the living room with me, other than that had one lone mosquito bite at the restaurant. This place is still in pre open phase so there is construction work all over, but some things I wrote down for Grace and Stuart as hiccups turned out to be a non issue. Ie the switch to the bedroom ceiling lights are the “gradual” type that needs to be adjusted (I just assumed they were broken). Rating the overall experience a four because of the food at Aura which is limited in option and except for the Indonesian chicken, not very tasty. Other than that, I look forward to coming back after the construction is completed.

What an insanely beautiful resort! Build into the side of the hill with uninterrupted views down to the coast, this resort is paradise! Travelled with another couple - 4 adults in total - and the 2 bedroom private villa was just perfect. Beautifully decorated, super spacious and with our own infinity pool that drops into tropical hills and coastline - it was spectacular. Even though it rained a little while we were there - it was even delightful to watch the rain move in from the ocean to the shore. To top this all off - the staff were sensational. So warm and welcoming, nothing was every too much trouble. We met the GM, Stuart a couple of times who was always eager to help with anything at all and incredibly attentive - what a gem! Aside from Stuart's help, we had our own "butler" on hand for anything else we needed - which was a real treat! The professionalism and hospitality of the front office, butlers, drivers and cleaning staff is a testament to the property management - they were faultless. Overall, a really lovely stay! With a bit of development still underway, I cannot wait to go back once the resort is 100% completed - it will be unbeatable.
